1. Florida Caverns State Park— Marianna, Florida

Following a pummeling by Hurricane Michael, the recently re-opened, 38-site campground at Florida Caverns State Park is situated within Florida’s only state park where visitors can take a guided tour through a cave system.

Tours can include up to 25 people, with new surface-based lighting to illuminate the caverns.

The campground includes picnic pavilions; the Bluehole swimming area; 32 sites equipped with 30/50-amp electricity, water, sewer hookups, grills and fire rings; access to the Chipola River is available for small vessels; multiuse trails for hikers, mountain bikers and equestrians;

Three RV/trailer sites in the equestrian camping area have the same amenities but do not have sewer hookups. A dump station is available. Stables are available for those who bring their horses.

Reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance.

2. Naples Motorcoach Resort & Boat Club— Naples, Florida

Voted top 10 Best Luxury Resorts in the country by USA Today’s 2019 Reader Choice, Naples Motorcoach Resort & Boat Club is a five-star resort welcoming Class A vehicles.

It’s the only resort with direct access to the Gulf of Mexico on Florida’s west coast, featuring a clubhouse, three pools, pickleball courts, a ballroom, fitness center, private theater and 32 boat storage units. The resort primarily offers lot ownership, with a try-before-you-buy option available.

3. Bluewater Key RV Resort— Key West, Florida

Rental and owned lots — averaging 35 feet wide and 80 feet deep or larger — are landscaped with a variety of tropical plants, shrubbery and trees.

All lots have water, sewer, electric, cable TV and Wi-Fi, and many include private docks. The resort also boasts a 200-foot community docks and has individual 25-foot boats for rent at a daily rate. Because of shallow waters caused by the tides, boating in the bay requires watercraft with shallow drafts of 12 to 18 inches; check with the resort to make sure you can safely launch your boat.

4. Gulf Coast RV Resort— Inglis, Florida

Dedicated to long-term campers (though welcoming to all), Inglis RV park, located right off U.S. 19, features on-site boat and RV storage, a swimming pool, laundromat, Wi-Fi, cable TV, nature trails, full hookup sites with 30/50-amp electrical service, dog park, horse shoes pit, playground and more.

Gulf Coast RV Resort is located on the shores of Lake Rousseau, where you can find an abundance of water ways. The closest boat ramp has access to Cross Florida Barge Canal which connects directly with Withlacoochee Bay and Gulf waters. As your itinerary planning begins, make sure that Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission regulations are considered before starting any haul.

5. St. George Island State Park— St. George Island, Florida

With 60 sites nestled on a barrier island fronting historic Apalachicola Bay, St. George Island State Park offers stunning views of clear waters, blue skies and beaches.

Florida's state parks have plenty of options for camping throughout the state. Campsites include water, electricity, a grill and picnic table, along with centralized showers, restrooms and dump station. 6. Lake Magic RV Resort— West Clermont, Florida

This Orlando-Kissimmee-area Lake Magic RV Resort boasts scenic lake views with nearby golf courses, shops and restaurants, all within 6 miles of Disney World, with Hwy 192 running nearby.

The park’s oversized lots, both paved and gravel, include 30/50-amp electricity, water, sewer hookups and cable. Wi-Fi access is an additional charge.

Be sure to keep an eye to the sky as hot air balloons can sometimes be seen tracing patterns over the park, which also features live entertainment, scheduled activities, volleyball and sand badminton courts, two pools, a kiddie pool, hot tub and dog park.

7. Palm Beach RV Park— West Palm Beach, Florida

Palm Beach RV Park is a short drive from the coast a solid choice for no-frills, long-term stays. The park only offers monthly rental of it concrete sites equipped with water, sewage hookup, Wi-Fi and 50-amp electricity. An on-site laundry facility is available. The park does not have a swimming pool or public restrooms/shower facilities. More than anything, Palm Beach RV Park’s location and quiet setting stand out above other regional parks.

8. Destin RV Beach Resort— Miramar Beach, Florida

Destin RV Beach Resort is located directly across the street from private access to the sugary sands of Miramar Beach.

Thirty-six cement pads with patios include full hookups, 30/50-amp electricity, cable and Wi-Fi. The pet-friendly park’s campground houses 156 RV sites equipped with water, cable, 30/50-amp electricity and sewage hookups. A laundry facility, pool, bathroom, shower facilities and shuffleboard court are on-site.

Be sure to check for site dimensions: the maximum RV length is 45 feet and not all RV sites can accommodate big rigs.
